Day 01: Cusco | Challa cancha – Soraypampa – Laguna Humantay

Begin your exciting journey to Soraypampa from Challacancha. In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to explore the incredible Humantay Lagoon, a natural treasure that will take your breath away.

And best of all, after a day full of discoveries, you can spend the night in our camp on the route, a unique place where you can rest and recharge your batteries surrounded by nature.

Day 02: Salkantaypampa – Abra Salkantay – Soyrococha – Soraypampa – Cusco

Day 01: Cusco | Challacancha – Soraypampa – Humantay Lagoon

Your exciting two-day adventure in Cusco will begin early in the morning. Our tour guide and private transportation will pick you up at your accommodation in Cusco to start this experience. The first stop will be in Mollepata, where you can enjoy a delicious and nutritious breakfast. Afterwards, we will continue our journey to Challa Cancha, where we will take a short break. From there, we will start the hike to Soraypampa, where our campsite is located. This first stretch presents a moderate difficulty, which will allow you to gradually adapt to the altitude. Along the way, you will be able to enjoy the beautiful Andean landscape and follow the steps of a small Inca canal. Upon arrival at our exclusive Sky Camp, located in front of the majestic and snow-capped mountains of Salkantay and Humantay, you will be welcomed by our chef with an exquisite lunch. You will then have time to rest in your igloo or explore the surrounding area before preparing for the afternoon hike. Afterwards, you will ascend to the impressive Humantay Lagoon (4,200 m / 13,780 ft). Once at the top, you will be able to enjoy the dazzling view of the lagoon, which sparkles like a jewel amidst the white glacier. Your guide will be available to provide you with information about the area and will suggest how to make the most of this fascinating place. Upon returning to our Sky Camp, you will enjoy a delicious dinner and stargazing. Your guide will give you an introduction to Inca astronomy, and you will have the opportunity to admire the constellations from the roof of your igloo before resting.

The next day, you will wake up to a hearty breakfast and prepare for the hike back to Soraypampa. From there, we will take our private transportation back to Cusco. You will conclude your trip with the satisfaction of having experienced an unforgettable adventure in the midst of Peru’s breathtaking natural beauty.

Day 02: Salkantaypampa – Abra Salkantay – Soyrococha – Soraypampa – Cusco

Join us on this exciting day as we continue our two-day adventure in the Cusco region. We will begin the day with a full and nutritious breakfast to charge you with energy before we start our gradual ascent to Salkantaypampa.

As we progress, we will enter the challenging but impressive Trail of the 7 Serpents, which will take us up to the majestic Abra de Salkantay (4,630 m / 15,190 ft). Here, you will have time to capture memorable photographs and marvel at the breathtaking view of the imposing snow-capped mountains that surround us.

Afterwards, we will descend through a unique rocky landscape until we reach our lunch spot at Soyrococha. Once we have recharged our batteries, we will continue our descent to Soraypampa, where our transportation will be waiting for us.

On the way back to Cusco, you will have numerous opportunities to capture excellent photographs of the stunning Andean landscapes, which include valleys, mountains, rivers and farmland. Finally, we will arrive in Cusco and drop you off at your accommodation so that you can enjoy a well-deserved rest after this day full of exciting adventures and breathtaking panoramas.

Is the trek possible all year round? When should I not go?

Of course! The Salkantay Trek is feasible all year round. However, it is important to keep in mind that the most challenging months are January, February and March due to heavy rains. The rest of the year, the route is more comfortable, as rainfall is scarce.

Is the visit to Huayna Picchu Mountain included?

The entrance fee included is for “Machupicchu Solo”. If you wish, you can request the entrance fee for “Huayna Picchu” for an additional cost of $20.

Can I go on my own?

Yes it is possible but not recommended. If you decide to go on your own, be sure to bring a backpack with warm clothes, camping gear and enough food for each day. However, most visitors prefer to go on tour, as it is a more organized and comfortable experience.

From what age is it recommended to do the tour to Laguna Humantay?

Due to the low temperatures and the intense cold in the area near the Salkantay snow-capped mountain, it is suggested that the tour to the Humantay Lagoon be done by people of legal age. In the case of minors, they can participate in the tour under the responsibility of an adult.

What is the best season for the tour?

The best time for the Humantay Lagoon tour is during the dry season (April to October) with stable weather and less rainfall. In the rainy season, there is more vegetation and the roads are less traveled.
